Schools Fundraisers: A Fundraising Overview

We are always talking about organizing schools fundraisers, what effective products you can incorporate and how helpful your volunteers are but do you really know what a fundraiser really is? Aside from just obtaining money for your non-profit organization, you need to understand that there is more to fundraising than meets the eye. There are also different ways in which you can obtain your funds aside from just selling fundraising products. In this particular article, I am going to tackle on what kind of fundraising activities you could use and choose which one of those suits best for you.

One of the most common types of schools fundraisers that I have told you earlier about is direct selling your fundraising products to your customers. This is where you are going to obtain fundraising products from your supplier or a reputable fundraising company and selling them to your customers. Of course you have to increase the prices of your fundraising products in which the profit that you will gain will be your income. There are two types of this kind of fundraising activity namely immediate delivery and delayed delivery. Immediate delivery is when you will be selling your products right in front of your customers and they can get the goods right there and then. This is ideal for food products and products that are not very heavy to carry such as candies, chocolates, beef jerky and scented pencils. You should prepare bags or containers for your volunteers so that they can easily carry your products no matter where they will go. If you will not be doing door-to-door with your products, you can choose to set up a small booth in which your customers can immediately obtain their products right after purchasing it. The delayed delivery is when you are going to give out order forms for your customers and your delivery team will deliver them the next day. This is recommended for non-perishable kind of products since your sales team can cover more customers if another team will be doing the delivery. You need a large number of volunteers in order to pull this off but the efficiency of this system is very good since the job will be distributed evenly to your members and there is a less chance of them to be overworked.

Another kind of fundraiser that is gaining popularity these days is the events fundraising. This is when you will be organizing an event like sports events, musical shows or talent nights and you are going to obtain your funds through ticketing. This is recommended if you already have a merchant partner which will act as your sponsor in exchange for advertising in your events. The merchant can benefit much from the increased awareness of their business establishments when they will be sponsoring your project since they have the rights to put up advertisements in your fundraising events. You can also ask them for any ideas that they have in order to attract more people to see your events. If the merchant partner is already popular on its own, your events will attract more people than expected since people know that a big company is backing you up.
