Charming worms, which is otherwise known as worm grunting is very simple. In here, a plot of land such as village green or grass field is divided into different small plots. Then, the participants have to do their best to charm as many worms as they can to the surface as possible within a given amount of time. The winner is the person who gets to collect the largest number of worms from their plot. Let’s proceed to the basic rules and guidelines of the game. First in line are the plots, using a plot of 3 meters by 3 meters or 3 yards by 3 yards works really good. You need to mark the grid of the plots using strings or by using small sticks and placing them at every corner. On the other hand, you can also make use of a machine from a grounds man that marks sports pitches. Using this will help you make your plots look really professional.

As for the competitors, most people prefer to compete alone but having teams comprised of two persons is also a good idea. By having teams of two, your competitors can play the game with more ease. One of the players will do the charming while the other one will be collecting the worms. Add some fun factor into the game by letting your contestants where fancy dresses. This will surely pour out loud laughs from your audience. Let’s get to the worms. As for these guys, they need to be charmed so that they’ll come out to the surface. Digging is not allowed during the game. When a small part of the worms’ bodies come out, they can be pulled out. Next, you need to have judges for this event. One of the judges will ring the bell to signify the start of the game. A time span of 30 minutes is usually good enough. Assign some people to go around to check and make sure that everybody’s playing fair.

The winning team or contestant will then be announced when the time’s up and after the number of worms are counted by the judges. I know you’re wondering how worms are grunted so that they’ll come out to the surface. Worms are really sensitive to sound vibrations and they usually spruce up if the noise produced is strong enough to affect the places where they thrive in underground. The contestants can use different contraptions to encourage their baits to come out.

So how are you going to make money from this event? Well, you can charge fees from those who will be taking part in the contest. In addition, you can also ask for an entrance for those who would like to witness the fun, action, and wackiness of your event. Sell some snacks during the contest. These will sell out really well.
